POST TITLE: Deputy Clerk

REPORTING TO: Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer

LOCATION: Parish Office

HOURS OF WORK: 20 per week with occasional deputising for Clerk at evening council and committee meetings.

SALARY: National Joint Council LC2 point 20 Salary Scale (£25,295) pro rata

PENSION: NEST Workplace Pension

Brinsworth Parish Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable person to carry out the duties of Deputy Clerk to the Parish Council.

The position involves fully supporting the Parish Clerk in her duties and the elected Council to achieve its aims. This is a new role reflecting the increased workload brought about by the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Parish Council and reflecting the growth in Brinsworth’s population.

The post is initially for 2 years on a 20 hour per week contract and will include occasional attendance at evening meetings. Flexibility of working may also be required for holiday cover or village events.

Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, be computer literate and have some accounting experience. They should be able to work as part of a small team, yet also be confident working on their own initiative. Previous experience in the public sector and in a small office environment would be helpful, although not essential and training where required will be provided.

The successful candidate will need to be confident and enjoy dealing with members of the public, as part of the local community. They will be required to work towards their CILCA qualification, if they do not already have it.
